Food Truck Success!
Dear Residents:
Thank you for making our first food truck event such a success! We appreciate everyone who came out to enjoy some great BBQ.
There are a lot of factors that are considered with this type of event – weather, how many people, food variety, day, and time, just to name a few. We gained valuable information while talking to neighbors in line or on-line of what they would like to see in the future. All of this will be taken into consideration as our goal is to do this again in Summer of 2022.
We know the wait was long, but it was the time to meet some new people and pets before heading home to eat. The food truck Boss Hog’s BBQ was extremely happy with the results, and they too learned about our community since it was their first time to out to this area.

Columbus Day Trash Pick up
Friendly Resident Mask Reminder
Please remember if you or your children are wearing masks out in the neighborhood while you are waiting on school buses, walking, talking to neighbors, etc. to please properly dispose of your mask in a trash can at your home.
We know it is tough for kids to wear the mask on the school bus and they may have a tendency to take it off once they get off the bus and just drop it in the area of the stop. Kindly remind them to bring the mask home to toss out.
Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe.
City Hall Closure
City Hall will be closed until Monday, October 4, 2021. If you need assistance, please contact Mayor Webb at 502-708-5087.
Sanitation update from Waste Management
Food Trucks
At the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting on Monday, September 13, 2021, Council person Kelly Johnson presented to the Mayor and City Council members information regarding having a food truck at City Hall. Several residents showed interest in this idea on social media.
Information obtained included types of food trucks, insurance, permits, minimum dollar amount required by operator. It was agreed that we would test this out with a food truck tentatively in October. Council member Joe Soeder suggested a poll be conducted on websites for residents preference on a day of the week and time. Please look for polling information in next few days on the city Facebook and Next Door websites.

Hot weather forecasted this week
As the weather this week will be in the high 90's, please take precautions for family, neighbors and pets. Here are some helpful tips.
Ten Hot Weather Safety Tips:
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids; drink about 16 ounces before starting and 5 to 7 ounces every 15 or 20 minutes.
- Avoid dehydrating liquids. Alcohol, coffee, tea and caffeinated soft drinks can hurt more than help.
- Wear protective clothing. Lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting clothing helps protect against heat. Change clothing if it gets completely saturated.
- Pace yourself. Slow down and work at an even pace. Know your own limits and ability to work safely in heat.
- Schedule frequent breaks. Take time for rest periods and water breaks in a shaded or air conditioned area.
- Use a damp rag. Wipe your face or put it around your neck.
- Avoid getting sunburn. Use sunscreen and wear a hat if working outside.
- Be alert to signs of heat-related illness. Know what to look for and check on other workers that might be at high risk.
- Avoid direct sun. Find shade or block out the sun if possible.
- Eat smaller meals. Eat fruits high in fiber and natural juice. Avoid high protein foods.
Heat and Sun Safety for your pets
- Keep drinking water bowls full of cool, fresh water
- Provide shaded areas where a pet can rest if outdoors
- Use a misting hose to provide a cool area for a pet while outside
- Utilize a kiddie pool for dogs to splash and relax in
- Keep an eye on pets around water—not all pets are natural swimmers
- Exercise or have strenuous playtime in the cool of the morning or at dusk, not during heat of the day
- Do not leave pets unattended outside when it gets hot; bring inside
- Leave your pet at home when you are running errands (see below) – NOT in the car
- Light-colored pets can sunburn—check with your veterinarian before applying sunblock to your pet’s nose
-
- Walk your dog early or late in the day, out of the heat
- Walk frequently when it’s cool to build up callus on the pads
- Walk on the grass when hot surfaces are unavoidable
- Moisturize your dog’s pads daily with paw balms or creams
- Lay down a wet towel for your dog to stand on when grassy areas are not available
School Bus Safety & Laws
Now that school is back in session in Jefferson County, please remember to be extra cautious when driving.
As the City of Heritage Creek continues to grow, with families moving in, there are more children in the neighborhood. Please make sure you slow down when you see a bus as they make frequent stops.
Parents/Guardians please make sure your child stays on the sidewalk or in the grass area and not the street. If you are in your car awaiting the bus to pick up or drop off your child, try not to pull up directly to a stop sign, leave room for a car to go around you and safely stop at the sign. With homes still being built there are construction vehicles also in the roadway. Please make sure emergency vehicles can safely get down the road.
We want everyone in our city to be arrive safely home each day!
